What does Black Friday mean to Ghanaians?

1 min read

What does Black Friday mean to Ghanaians? Black Friday grew out of the history of the United States of America, and ever since the 1960s. It has been practised to date.

Black Friday, is usually the busiest shopping day of the year. It’s a day after Thanksgiving and most companies offer promotional sales. It was called black Friday because officially opens the Christmas shopping season in centre city.

Somehow some retail shops in Ghana have started some sort of promotional sales, same as the pioneer. And name it same “Black Friday”, really how barren can we be.

So what is the reason why we can’t just be a little creative and come up something different that means something to us? So for us, we cannot just crack our coconut on our terms for our unique experience?  All we know best is to copy and even when we do, we don’t even do it well.

The concept of Black Friday is known to everyone to offer promotional sales. It usually brings massive traffic jams and over-crowded sidewalks.  So we cannot just take the concept and give it a different name and put it in a proper context that would mean sometimes to us.

It’s sad that we cannot be creative with somethings that should not take a genius for figure out.
